Reflection
This entire Developmental Standards project was all about making me focus on how I was going to create myself as an educator; what projects I myself would assign, how I would cater to the varying needs of my students and how I would set up the flow of my classroom, were just a few things I had to deeply ponder while completing this assignment. Mainly, the developmental standards were my biggest concern. Personally, looking at the standards I see them as mental guides for the direction you should take your teaching. They are aspirations and goals that you should shoot to achieve for the sake of the education of your students. As solid standards, even while times may adapt and students will change, they will stay focal points as if on a compass. My biggest struggles with the developmental standards I believe will lay within the realm somewhere of knowing major theories and concepts that I can apply and keeping up with digital tools to use in my classroom. Those two I see as especially being my weaknesses and where I will need to focus because they are areas I need improvement on even now. By keeping up to date with studies on child and adolescent development I can know how to appropriately deal with some of the issues that my students are facing. By also staying familiar with recent technology, I can keep a strong point of communication with my students that way. Using the developmental standards as a goal to push myself to be the best possible educator, I believe I will be able to help my students in multiple areas of their growing lives.
